About the Role

A Medical Billing and Coding Specialist handles medical billing and coding for healthcare providers. This role ensures accurate claims submission, follows up on denials, maintains compliance with regulations, and manages revenue cycle processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Assign accurate medical codes (ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS) to diagnoses and procedures
• Submit insurance claims electronically and via mail
• Follow up on denied or rejected claims
• Verify patient insurance coverage and benefits
• Post payments and manage accounts receivable
• Ensure compliance with coding guidelines and regulations
• Communicate with insurance companies and patients regarding billing

Requirements

• Medical billing and coding certification (CPC, CCS, or similar)
• Proficiency with ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems
• Experience with medical billing software and EHR systems
• Knowledge of insurance claim processes and regulations
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Understanding of HIPAA compliance
• Problem-solving skills for claim denials
• Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently
